These hotlines are available to patients if maybe they have a child that’s ill and they’re not sure whether they should take them to the emergency room. Maybe they have questions about a prescription, or maybe they have just some general questions about a treatment plan.
These positions typically do require a bachelor’s degree and you may need to have proper state licensing within your state. Now, there’s actually quite a big list of companies that do higher for triage nurses. A couple of them would be Fonemed, Care Net, CVS, Mercy and others. Now, a couple of popular work at home opportunities within the healthcare industry that don’t necessarily require a degree are going to be medical transcription and also billing and coding.
While these opportunities don’t necessarily require a bachelor’s degree or a nursing license, they do require some form of formal training. Many of the billing and coding positions do require you to come onsite at least occasionally.
While there are a lot of companies that do hire transcriptionists remotely, that don’t never need to come into the office at all. All of the work is done through online file transfers. Now, both these positions are usually pretty flexible and they don’t require you to be on the phone if you do have small children at home. Now, there are also a lot of large insurance companies that hire nurses to process insurance claims or handle customer service issues.
In some of these positions again, you may be helping customers to understand their treatment plans, or the different options that are available to them. Many of these customer service positions are also called patient care advocates. So, those are terms you may want to look for or use during your work at home job search.
Now, a couple of companies to keep in mind for this industry are going to be United Healthcare, Cigna, Anthem, or Aetna. Along these same lines is going to be a case manager. You can get a case manager position in some cases with just an associate’s degree. But, a bachelor’s degree will help you get into some of the more advanced and better paying positions. Now, strong clinical knowledge is required here as you may be developing care plans with care providers and also following up with patients on their results.
Generally these companies will hire nurses either as part-time or full-time employees as opposed to independent contractors. In some cases they will offer benefits, such as, 401K plans, paid holidays, and also medical or dental insurance.
